Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
Sojourn Wellness recognize the unique mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and acculturation faced by refugees in Canada. As part of our commitment to affordable psychological care, we offer services and support to individuals who are eligible through the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). The program provides limited and temporary coverage of specific health care benefits for certain groups of individuals until they are eligible for the health insurance in their provide or territory.
Who is Eligible?
- Detainees
- Protected Persons in Canada
- Refugee Claimants
- Resettled Refugees
- Victims of Human Trafficking
- Victims of Domestic Violence
- Certain Other Groups
What is Covered?
- Basic Health Services (i.e. medical doctors, hospital care, laboratory tests)
- Supplemental Services (i.e. urgent dental care, limited vision care, mental health services such as psychotherapy and counselling, medical supplies such as those for diabetes, assisted devices such as hearing aids)
- Prescription Medications
- One Immigration Medical Examination (IME)
Mental Health Services
Sojourn Wellness provides supports to refugees as they adjust to life in Canada, navigate cultural and language barriers, as well as take care of their mental health and well-being. We are recognized by Medavie Blue Cross to provide counselling and psychotherapy services to individuals covered under the IFHP. Program Coverage
Eligible individuals do not pay for these services. The insurance company Medavie Blue Cross manages the claims for the IFHP. If you have questions?
